Can the “least bad” man do some good?

It is hard to overstate the shadow Nkurunziza cast over Burundian politics during his lifetime. Under his direction, the CNDD-FDD went from one Hutu militia among many during the Burundian Civil War to having a stranglehold on political power. His death leaves a vacuum, and it remains to be seen if President-elect Ndayishimiye will fill it.
